The Friends of Shellingford School held their annual Family Fun Day on Saturday 11 July and raised over £1715! The day included fun and games for all the family, including various stalls and games, archery, face-painting and a bouncy castle. The children also joined in sports activities and a mini-assault course with parents battling it out in the popular tug of war challenge. The weather was kind, the BBQ was lovely and the silent auction was as popular as ever with some excellent items donated, which certainly helped boost the already impressive funds raised. Many thanks to everyone who helped and supported the event.

The Summer Production this year was ‘Archie Dobson’s War’. This is a play commemorating World War 1 that has been specially written for children for performance in schools. The play combines singing, dance and a wide range of small spoken parts which meant there was something for all the children in Shellingford. It dealt with the subject of war sensitively and at a level the children could comprehend. The children performed it beautifully and learned a lot in the journey. Thanks go to Mr Drew for directing the performance and all the supporting staff who made it an excellent production for the whole school, but especially the starring Year 6's who will now be moving on to their new schools in September.
