We would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Sophie Anderson for organising the Fairy & Elf Trail which ran over the October half term. Families purchased an explorer pack which contained a miniature letter from the fairies & elves of Shellingford, a magnifying glass to help read it and a map showing approximate locations of the doors.
The children had to locate the doors and note down the letter found on each one. Once all the doors had been found, the letters spelt out a 3-digit code that could be used to unlock the secret box hidden behind the final door. Inside the ‘lock box’ were bottles of magical fairy dust that children could take home – a mix of wildflower seeds and sparkles with the promise of attracting fairies and elves to your garden once planted!
Huge thanks to the children that helped with decorating the doors, for the school, the village and Reverend Jeremy for being supportive of us using the school, village & churchyard for the trail and to Mrs Smith for allowing us to use her front garden for the final door & lock box.
We raised £165.00 for FOSS and received lots of lovely pictures and feedback of little ones enjoying the hunt!
