The children made keepsakes of this historic occasion, designing crowns and royal emblems, learning about coins throughout the ages and the Royal Mint. The children thought about Christian service and ‘What is faith?’ and how it inspires a heart for others in the world. The song ‘Our King’ was especially composed for the Coronation of King Charles III for primary schools and we have been singing this together in worship. Our Class 3 violin teacher from the County Music Service also wrote a fanfare which the Year 3 and 4’s performed to the whole school at the start of our picnic. Our Coronation Picnic was such a lovely event (despite the rain!) and there was a King and Queen from each class. Each child received a Coronation pencil as a special gift and memento from the school.
