BeSpace and the Uffington Benefice of Churches organised a Prayer Space in St Faith’s Church to give the children an opportunity to experience prayer in a personal way.  We were very grateful to the volunteers and for everyone’s hard work in providing this experience for the children.

The school was inspected last term and the report has now be published. The inspection was very positive and the Ofsted Inspectors were extremely complimentary about the school. The inspection report can also be found on the Homepage of the school’s website.

It is lovely to see everyone again after the summer break and we would particularly like to welcome all our new families and staff who have joined us. The children have settled in very well and it has been a pleasure to watch them return to school.

We ended the academic year by wishing our Year Six children all the very best for their future as they begin the next chapter in their lives. The service was held at St Faith’s Church, Shellingford and was a memorable occasion for us all.

Our summer production was again of a high standard! Congratulations to the children for two fantastic performances and to Mr Drew for leading the production. We decided to continue to raise money for Ukraine at our summer productions and a further £115.00 was donated to the Appeal.

Our recent fundraising challenge raised an incredible £532.20 for the Ukrainian Humanitarian Appeal. Thank you for generous donations and for all the photographs you sent to us.

On behalf of the Staff and Governing Body a huge thank you Mrs Gabrielle Mann and the FoSS committee for organising such a successful Fun Day. It was so lovely to come together informally as a school community. Thank you to everyone who supported this event - we were not going to let the weather deter us! A grand total of £1360 was raised.

We held our annual ShWimbledon (Shellingford’s Wimbledon!) in July which involved tennis coaching sessions and competitions led by the Farindgon Tennis Club. The coach commented on how polite and well behaved the children were and that they were a credit to the school.

In June we welcomed back Dance Days who led 1950’s dance sessions with each class to conclude our celebrations of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. We also held a Skip2Bfit workshop for the whole school when all the children (and staff!) challenged themselves to see how many skips they could do in two minutes.

We had the most wonderful week just before half-term celebrating The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in school. On the Tuesday we held a Community Picnic Lunch and welcomed residents from the village to join us. The weather stayed fine (just!) and towards the end of the afternoon we gathered on the field to create a big ‘70.’ The school presented each child with a special Platinum Jubilee pin badge engraved with the official emblem, we watched part of The Queen’s Coronation and we ate cupcakes to celebrate too! It was such a lovely occasion and one which hopefully will remain in the children’s memories for many years to come.
